June — Wheel of Fortune & The Lovers

Welcome yourself home. You have made it through an extraordinarily difficult year and a half. Likely you are still putting the pieces back together and slowly learning to open, trust and move forward again. While much of the future still feels uncertain, we can allow ourselves to find some steady ground again.

Put your hand on your heart, take a deep breath and say to yourself, “We’re okay. I am okay.”

The Wheel of Fortune is a card that represents the combination of fate and free will. While some things are totally out of our control, it’s important to remember that we have the ultimate agency over ourselves. Among the chaos, you get to choose how to show up.

The message that came through was: You do not have to take on other people’s trauma. You do not have to internalize the judgments about your body, the prejudice about your skin color or the fear around your sexuality. Those are not yours to carry. Put them down.

We have been carrying the emotional load of our previous generations for too long. It’s our turn to rise up and create a different world. One of tolerance, healthy communication, and accountability.

Those changes start within each of us. As we heal ourselves, we heal those around us. The Lovers asks us to be the highest version of ourselves. One who can give and receive love openly and honestly. And this is no small ask.

What if we could be more compassionate towards our difficult experiences? What would it feel like to let yourself off the hook? Choose one thing this month that you hold stigma around. What if instead of feeling embarrassed or ashamed, you could embrace that part of you? Share it. Laugh about it. Normalize it.

These cards ask us to drop our shame. Drop our guilt. Drop the idea that you have to look a certain way, eat a certain way, make a certain amount of money to be worthy. We’re all coming out of isolation. Let’s use this time to really embrace ourselves and others in a whole new way.

Come as you are.
